PRE MATCH
1. Players play rock-paper-scissors to choose a track:
– The winner is the person who wins 2/3 duels.
– Each player gets 3 warm-up throws before the first game of the evening.
– Each player gets 1 warm-up throw before the second match of the evening.
2. Match start:
– Players should clink their axes after warm-up throws and before the start of the match.
“If they don’t, there are no consequences, but they should do it for the spirit of the sport.”
2. Standard format of league matches:
– Each match consists of 3 rounds.
– Each round consists of 5 throws.
– The player must win 2 out of 3 rounds to win the match.
– Each player rolls 3 rounds, even if one of them won the first two.
– Recording of scores in league matches is mandatory.
– If a player wins one round and draws the rest, this is classed as a match win.
– If there is a tie at the end of three rounds, there is an overtime in the form of a Big Ax throw. A tie occurs when a series of three rounds ends in an overall tie: when each player has won one round, lost one round and tied one round, or when each round has ended in a tie.
2. Big Ax Throw:
– Players play rock, paper, scissors, and the winner decides who throws first.
– Each player only throws one throw.
– The throw is considered successful if the ax is driven into the blue square or just touching it.
– If one player makes a successful throw and the other fails, the player with a good throw wins.
– If both players throw a wrong throw, the round must be repeated.
– If a player wins one round and draws the rest, this is classed as a match win.
– If both players throw a good throw, the round should be repeated.
3. Awarding Points
– Target Center / Bullseye and Black Rim – 5 pts
– Red Hoop – 3 pts
– Blue hoop – 1 point
– Green dots in the corners / Clutch – 7 pts
3.1 Clutches
– Before throwing at Clutch, the player must request a throw at this green spot.
– A player can only roll Clutch on the last roll of a round.
– Accidental hits on Clutch do not score unless signaled first.
– If Clutch is requested, hitting a different spot on the target does not score a point.
– You can opt out of the Clutch roll, but it must be clearly stated.
3.2 Majority Rule
– Points are scored where most of the surface of the blade has been driven in.
– Any part of the blade that is not in contact with the shield counts.
